I guess this is the part where I talk about myself, right? I'm an 18 year old Austin native looking to explore a whole bunch of places, but without staying in a hotel. I enjoy biking, longboarding, swimming, running, fishing, hunting - really any excuse to get out of the house and in the sun. I love experiencing new cultures and places through food - seriously, if you put something in front of me I'll probably eat it, no questions asked. I'm a halfway decent cook as well, and I enjoy making meals for others (especially hosts, hint hint ;) ).

I'm backpacking through Europe the Summer of 2015 from June 16 to July 24ish, and I think the best way to experience a culture is to do as the locals do, live as the locals live. What better way than on the couch of a bona fide local? I want to meet people in foreign countries and make friends with them, keep in contact, and one day return the favor of a free place to stay.

I really like marine biology, probably to a dangerous degree. I like getting lost as a means to explore (although that may be a poor decision in a country where I can't understand the main dialect. I'll need to keep it under control). I enjoy live music, good food and drink, and having a good time. Staying in and talking over a meal sounds as good an evening as going wild at a concert to me. Oh, and if you scuba dive we're going to be best friends.

I'm a big fan of underground rappers like Aesop Rock, Eyedea and Abilities, and Sage Francis. Not just that though - I love electronic rock, alternative electronic, trance, DnB and some house. I love the Dune series, as well as biographies and outdoors stories. As for movies, anything by Neil Blomkamp, Quentin Tarantino and Joss Whedon are automatically favorites.
