About Me

Firstly, I am proudly South African and i believe it is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. See the below link.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPEG8Gn6Qxk

I was brought up in an “Irish” household because of my mothers cultural background and as a result of this upbringing, friends and family are the most important things in my life.

I have strong morals, I am respectful and I do my best to be a genuinely good person. I love to have fun, laugh and enjoy the small things in life.

I have a great sense of humor and I am open to any adventure or new experience this world has to throw at me.

I have lived my entire life inside of comfort zones and only now, am I beginning to challenge myself to break free of “the norm”. AS a result,I have decided to quit my job, sell all my possessions and travel the world! I have seen 18 countries so far and I am currently living in the UK.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people and to help travelers along their journeys.
Couch surfing gives people the opportunity to make new friends, learn new things and share all they have to offer.
Learning and sharing is what appeals to me the most.

Interests

Music is my biggest interest. I believe it unites the world and i will accept any opportunity to experience new music or watch live performances.

I love attending music festivals, playing guitar and one or two other instruments.

I am a bit of a nerd, so I enjoy gaming and STAR WARS!!!!
I enjoy meeting new people and learning about different cultures and languages.
I am a fan of outdoor activities and I have been fishing and camping all my life.

To be honest, I am a really easy going guy and I am always open to new adventures and experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all genres of music and i am open to new musicians and bands.

What’s on my IPod now?

Darkest Hour,
Shakey Graves,
Howling Wolf,
Gregory Alan Isakov,
Sixto Rodriguez,
All That Remains (the old stuff),
Lamb Of God (the old stuff),
Louis Armstrong,
Bon Iver,
The White Stripes,
Sonny Boy Williamson,
Robert Johnson and
Jimi Hendrix. To name just a few… 

Same applies with movies and books however, my favorites are:

Fight Club,
Forest Gump,
Lion King,
Into The Wild

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Waaaaaay to many to mention, but here are a few cool things.

1. I walked nearly 900km across Spain, on the camino de Santiago.

2. I hitch hiked for a week across Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and made my way into Finland.

3. I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights in Finland.

4. Road tripped through France!

And finally one of my favourite experiences goes as follows :

My 4x4 got stuck late one night, while i was traveling along the coast in Mozambique and I was unable to get help until the next day.

As a result, I slept under the stars on a rural Mozambican beach.
This is where i witnessed the locals embarking on a religious midnight pilgrimage, through the bush under the brightest moonlight i have ever seen.

The next Morning a farmer arrived to get my 4x4 out of the sand and I was woken up by massive pet pig named clementine licking my face.
It scared me half to death and the farmer who clementine belonged to thought it would be hilarious.

We both ended up laughing until we cried. 

Teach, Learn, Share

I live in Birmingham, UK, but I'm from South Africa which is a very culturally diverse country.
We have 11 official languages and are made up of every creed the world has to offer.
We have been through great struggles in our past, but we have had more than 20 years of democracy and it is a different world all on its own
With that being said, i think a lot of people will be interested in learning about where i come from and my experiences thus far.

I am willing to teach and share all I have to offer. Maybe a ukulele lesson or two?
I can tell you stories that could break your heart, leave you astounded and make you cry with laughter.

In terms of learning, this is something that should continue until the day you die and I will try and learn as much as I can from everyone I encounter.

What I Can Share with Hosts

This question is a tough one to answer because i have so much to offer and i will share all of it.......... maybe not my toothbrush hahaha.

I can share my experiences, stories, opinions and any knowledge I have to offer. Our love and our friendship are the most valuable things we have in life and this i offer to everyone.
