ABOUT ME

We are fun, chill, friendly and Christian. We are very social and active, almost always hanging out with friends or going out somewhere. We both originally come from upstate NY small towns. We met in College (Roberts Wesleyan, Rochester, NY) in 2000. We have been happily married for over 13 years now. We lived in Maryland, near Washington DC, for 6 years after our wedding, then relocated to Fukushima Japan for almost 3 years. We are now resettled in the USA, enjoying life in southern Pennsylvania with our son Caleb and new baby, Emily.

We are both non-smokers.

PHILOSOPHY

We both have been Christians for our whole lives. Our faith is important to us, but we aren't pushy about it. If we request your couch on a Saturday night, we would want to find an area church to attend on Sunday morning. However, this does not mean that we are super anal conservatives about everything. I do believe that life is what you make of it and I prefer to make it awesome.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before going to Japan (2010), we rode our motorcycles around the US and surfed with over 30 different hosts! We stayed with gracious folks from all walks of life and were blown away by the quality of people out there.

兴趣

Jay is into video games, music, anime and football. Ashley loves gardening and is very artistic, especially 3D art like ceramics, beads and jewelry design. We love watching movies, eating new foods and hanging out with friends. We also love going to concerts and have seen some epic shows, like Muse, U2, Coldplay, Aerosmith...

Music: Jay loves and listens to tons of music, but lately has been moving from rock more into dance and electronic. His favorite DJs include Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond and David Guetta;favorite rock bands would include Coldplay, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and JET. Ashley is more into country/southern style, so she loves Brad Paisely, Tim McGraw, Little Big Town, Sugarland, The Allman Brothers, Jack Johnson, Tom Petty and many others.

Movies: Jay's favorite movies are The Crow, Terminator 2, Aliens, Pacific Rim and Cloud Atlas. Ashley's are My Neighbor Totoro, Jane Eyre, Wolf Children and Braveheart.

Books: Ashley is always in the middle of 5 books at a time, including many art and historical books and some novels. Jay used to be a big fan of Michael Crichton, but he doesn't read too much these days besides Manga (Fullmetal Alchemist!).

I've already mentioned motorcycling across America and living in Japan for three years. Both experiences were definitely amazing!
