About Me
**I'm travelling to Japan from 12th October until November so cannot host at all during this time**
I'm an outgoing person who lives for new experiences, and has lived his life largely based on luck so far; if people suggest doing something, I'll usually say yes because it tends to work out for the best. I'm sure that will come to bite me in the bum sometime, but so far it hasn't!
I love food of pretty much any kind, though I do have a rather large sweet tooth which I'd much prefer not having...but that doesn't stop me eating anything that looks tasty.
I'm also very sorry I can't change my main picture; it's the one I use on Facebook, and it doesn't seem to let me delete it! There's another few in there, though.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Quite honestly, I'm not overly sure as of yet. I've previously always travelled in groups of people, but have recently decided that I'll try travelling alone and think that I'll miss the company of others.
Part of it is definitely that I prefer "living" somewhere rather than "visiting" it, so I'd like to get a more authentic feel for a place than I would in a random hotel room.
That's not all that I want, however, as I love getting to know people and have always been very outgoing; if there's a chance to be part of your life, even if only briefly, then I'd love to get to know you.
Music, Movies, and Books
Oh far too many to list...my music taste, when I was young, was mostly indie rock and some metal, but my tastes have varied massively since then and there's very few genres I don't listen to. Some of my favourites include Lifehouse, The National, The Gaslight Anthem, Lindsey Stirling, Mumford & Sons, Watsky, and Idlewild, but I could go on and on about various different bands.
Movies are the same, to be honest...I watch far too many, and I will sometimes purposefully watch bad films because I enjoy the cringe from time to time. I've been a massive Star Wars fan since I was a kid, but currently I'd say my favourite film is "Her" or possibly "Happythankyoumoreplease" as I enjoyed the characterisation in them.
Books is where I can be more specific; I used to be a big sci-fi geek, but have moved more into fantasy as of late. I love Joe Abercrombie, Scott Lynch, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, and Peter V. Brett. Love love love. But there are many other authors that I've read, and would be remiss to not shout out to Ian Irvine who got me into fantasy in the first place.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't know if there's anything particularly amazing I've done; I've certainly done a lot of things that I'm proud of, and visited many places that I've loved, but nothing particularly awe-inspiring.
I loved going to the Star Wars Celebration IV over in Los Angeles, enjoy being able to say I've been in the Parthenon in Rome and the Pantheon in Athens, and greatly enjoyed visiting the city of Ephesus in Turkey, but I don't know that I'd count any of that as "amazing" as such.
Hopefully I'll be able to change this section at some point in the future to say the one specific thing!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to share my knowledge of the English language, though I am terrible at learning any other languages (I've tried several) so it may be somewhat hard to do. That won't stop me trying if it's what you want, though!
If you're visiting me then I'm more than happy to take out any of my many, many boardgames and teach/play them with you, as I find it's a great form of social interaction and I always have fun playing them.
If I'm visiting you, then I'd love to know what you do (either for fun or as a job) and, if you want to, would be happy for you to teach it to me.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Myself, first and foremost. If there's anything you'd like to know about me, or anything I can teach you, just ask! I'm a completely open book and happy to share any of my experiences with you. I'm also more than happy to experience new things, so my time is yours if you're willing to share yours with me.
Other than that, I guess it depends what I bring with me! I tend to travel with a lot of random snacks from my home country, so if you'd like any of those then I'm happy to share.
