About Me

"You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl". I grew up on a farm in rural England and while I do love bustling cities, I am definitely happiest in nature. I feel a deep connection with the wild and really enjoy a good hike out amongst green meadows or forests. I love trees so much I decided to get one tattooed on my back!

Saying that, I also enjoy getting lost in the hustle and bustle of a buzzing city, checking out the live music scene, eating at hawker markets, dancing and meeting people.

I guess more than anything, I'm an adventurer and enthusiast, and I love to have new and different experiences. A friend asked me today what I wanted to achieve before I die and I said I just wanted to experience as much as possible, whether that be visiting different countries, understanding other cultures, connecting with new people, listening to different music, or having altered states of consciousness.

I have had many problems with my spine over the years and have experienced a lot of physical pain in my life. Despite this, I consider myself to be a happy and positive person (but maybe with a typical dark British humour). It's not been the easiest ride but it has taught me to be compassionate with others, to enter into everything with an open mind and to not judge books by their covers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfers are generally jolly good folk. Oh and I love meeting people and I believe the best way to experience a place (apart from when I want to do some solo adventuring) is to hang out with the locals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted some lovely people but I've still never 'surfed' myself. I'm hoping to change that soon!

Interests

Travelling, music, festivals, dancing, pub quizzes, stand up, art, wine, cider, cocktails,
tea (especially Taiwanese Oolong), coffee, Taiwanese desserts, avocados, fruit, the environment and living sustainably, philosophy, Functional Patterns, making mixes/podcasts, exploring markets, roadtrips, unplanned adventures, waterfalls, hiking, cycling, climbing, running through leaves and wandering through forests. And anything to do with water. I love to swim, snorkel, scuba dive, sail, SUP and go river tracing. I've just started to get into climbing too so if anyone wants to go, just let me know!

When I'm in the mood I also enjoy a good conversation about politics - preferably with a glass of red wine!

Music, Movies, and Books

There's far too much to name so let's chat about this when we meet :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paraglided over the 'Sete Cidades' volcanic crater lakes in São Miguel, Açores. It was so peaceful, so tranquil and the nearest I've ever got to flying. An absolutely incredible experience that I'll never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a lot of knowledge about cow breeds and old tractors. No, not keen? Well I can definitely teach you some basic Spanish and how to make a classic Spanish tortilla. I'm also be very happy to regale travel tales and life stories, while cooking or making something cool together. Oh and I'd love to show you how to choose the best fruits in Taiwanese markets and about the best foot masseurs in Taipei. I can also make you the best breakfast in the world!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Netherlands, Oman, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom
