About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Food, Friends, Music, Wine, ... and TRAVEL!!!

ABOUT ME

You can find me on BeWelcome.org

https://www.bewelcome.org/editmyprofile/en/finish

I'm eclectic. I love having guests. For many years I've been a traveling cyclist, venturing throughout Europe staying with any and all.

So what does that say about me? I'm a couch surfer kinda person who's been couch surfing all of my life, but instead of calling it 'surfing' I called it having friends of friends of friends stay, and staying with anyone who even hints at an invitation.

PHILOSOPHY

So what have I discovered through travel?
- travel alone - it forces you to experience
- never pass on the opportunity to experience or FEEL something new
- stop and enjoy the moment - frequently!
- get lost every day - you'll find something
- music or books are always there to keep you company
- try every local delicacy
- sleep is over rated
- travel romances have their place
- journeys are best measured in experiences and friends
- all journeys change you

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After bicycling in Europe and traveling extensively for both pleasure and business, I've found that my best travel experiences are with the people I meet, travel with, and stay with.

I didn't know how much I would learn and grow from my experience being a couchsurfing host - and my opportunities to be a guest. Couchsurfing has been an amazing experience !

Interests

I love San Miguel, its people and culture! Although I am an expat living in this beautiful country, I have adopted it as my own. I live in a 'local centro' neighborhood, with children playing in the callejon (alley), roosters, loud music, families, fireworks and church bells.

I now walk where I used to drive. I eat regionally produced food that I buy daily. I'm living a more simple life, with simple joys.

My primary interest these days, outside of travel and new experiences, is to integrate myself into my barrio.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. Before moving to Mexico I loaded thousands of songs on my Nano. Mostly singer songwriters. There's almost always music playing in my home. Sometimes I stop and listen - thinking a friend is in my sala - and they are!

I have a Kindle and will and do read almost anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Elephants in Africa, the celebration of the grape pick in Burgundy, listening to the gypsy songs at night carry over the vinyards in Bordeaux, learning about tapas in Sevilla, dinner with Sufi Muslims in the mountains near Granada, trekking in Cappaducia, Turkey, bicycling through the Alps, along the Bodensee, Rhine, Mosel, Dordogne, Lot, Loire, and the Danube as well as Provence and the Czech Republic. I hiked the Inca Trail in April 2014 and traveled sola for three months in Eastern Europe in 2015. December through March 2017 I slow traveled alone through Spain, Morocco and Portugal. I even completed the Camino and got my Compostela! After a couple of months visiting CS friends in So America, I recommitted myself to CS - because the travel karma keeps paying back!

The MOST amazing thing I've done is packing my life into 2 suitcases, and with my dog Louie, moving to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico to start the newest chapter in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can put together a pot of Texas Chili with ingredients from almost everywhere I have traveled and pair it with a yummy bottle of wine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A grateful, respectful, and mature guest that is also lots of FUN! I promise, I’m not your mother :)
