About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To dream of life and live the dream

ABOUT ME

I'm an English language teacher (or as I like to think of it, a modern day wandering grammar samurai) and I like teaching in Latin America.

My aim is to have fun easily and to be easy to have fun with, and to be a serious man but not take things too seriously. I often jump at the chance to experience other hemispheres of existence, but sometimes my timidness makes it hard to do what I'd like.

I think traveling allows me to grow as a human and more effectively channel the innate harmony in all things -- at least that's the idea. Trying to bridge the gap between ideal and implementation is a constant challenge, but it's a very worthwhile challenge!

PHILOSOPHY

Out of the nearly trillion people that have existed on this tiny planet in this incomprehensibly majestic universe, I may meet you and our paths may be forever adjusted. Then again, maybe not.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I occasionally am able to host but cannot at the moment (looking for a place to call my own -- Perú or bust!) and am looking forward to traveling via CS instead of hostels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed once and have hosted three groups of excellent people this year.

Interests

I love me some cerebral stimulation as well as exploring the 5 senses. There are many things to behold on the third rock from the sun.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: riddims, riddims, riddims of all sounds, shapes, and sizes
Movie: Children of Men, The Battle of Algiers, Hearts and Minds, Goyokin, themes about traveling, hope, documentaries, samurai cinema
Book: The Ecology of Commerce, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Children of Men, Coma, The Unbearable Lightness of Being

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Out of the way kindness from people that I encounter usually drops my jaw.
2) Anytime I see the Pacific ocean I lose my mind.
3) Little daily occurences that I attach sentiment to for their ordinariness so as not to take the little things for granted.
4) Swimming in Crater Lake, Oregon

Teach, Learn, Share

My nerd confession is that I'm really into hip-hop and samurai cinema. Willing to drop science at anytime, anyplace. Also, I like to swim butterfly.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Fiji, France, Morocco, Peru, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
