About Me

My name is Juan Sebastián, I come from Bogotá Colombia, but because of work I have lived in Europe and in China. Right now I am located in Shanghai, but I am planning to quit my job and travel the world.

I am a very friendly person, and I always try to help others when they're in need. I just hate when people take advantage of someone else's kindness. I have been a member of CS for several years now, and I have met amazing people in this community. Most of my experiences as a host have been positive, but now I think it is time for me to experience CS as a traveler.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted several people in Italy and China. Most of the experiences have been amazing, and I have also had amazing times surfing other people's couches especially in Europe and Canada.

I have had enough of China, so I will start a round the world trip in 2016 in order to clear up my mind, and decide what I will do with my life :) Maybe I am going through a vocational crisis...who knows, so I will do what I love the most -trvaling- in order to entertain myself.

Interests

-Languages: I've always been interested in languages and different cultures. I think that is one of the may reasons I decided to join the CS porject.

-Travelling: I think this is my favorite activity. I love going to places which are not popular among tourists.

-Cats: they're just so adorable!

Music, Movies, and Books

A couple of years ago I was not a very avid reader, but fortunatelyt that has changed.

One of my favorite books is called Venuto al Mondo, in English it was translated as "into the World".
Another book I love is called "Strange Pilgrims" by Gabriel García Márquez, Colombia's most famous author.
There are some other books that I have read, but as with movies, they must be AMAZING so that I will remember them in time...otherwise I just delete them from my head :D
Oh...a movie I love is Goodbye Lenin!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most most most amazing thing I've done: to quit smoking.

The second most amazing thing I've done: A trip from Bologna, Italy to Istanbul,Turkey by car crossing Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and European Turkey.

Another amazing thing I've done: touring Angkor temples by bike for four days...no tuk tuk.

Amazing things I've seen: The Great Wall of China in winter, Banteay Srei temple in Siem Reap; Kangaroos in Australia; Petra in Jordan; floating in the Dead Sea.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach others written and spoken Spanish, English or Italian. I was lucky enough to study since I was a kid in a bilingual school, so basically I grew up learning both Spanish and English. I started learning italian when I became italian citizen a couple of years ago, because of my ancestry. Besides I used to speak fluent German, but It's been a while since the last time I spoke in German with somebody, so I belive my vocabulary is already fucked up. At university I took some french courses, and I also lived in France for ten months, so my French is much more decent now.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can tell them so much about the differences between Colombia, Italy France and China...from an insider's point of view!
