About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much of the world and its people

ABOUT ME

117 countries and still going....

I grew up in the surf town of Santa Cruz, California. I immediately went to college at 18, studied business, graduated and got a corporate job. After several years slaving away I went back to school to get a masters (and make more money) This was all in pursuit of the typical "American Dream." But once I got out of the corporate world, I began reading and thinking what I wanted for my life. I decided I never wanted to go back to that kind of job/world so I haven't. I began starting businesses with friends, making big mistakes, but also having some success. 17 years later I'm still working remotely in a variety of businesses, meeting great people, and enjoying life a whole lot more!

PHILOSOPHY

"Follow the pursuit of happiness"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted many travelers at my home in Santa Cruz (when I'm not traveling). I enjoy the connection of having the world at my doorstep and sharing my little piece of it. Some of my best friends were met through hosting or being hosted. In 2008, I took a 9 month trip around the world and dozens of CSers either took me in or showed me around their hoods. It was an amazing experience, visiting ~20 countries and I will never forget the hospitality that was bestowed upon me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My favorite part about CS is meeting up with members in the cities I'm traveling through or showing them a slice of California. There is no replacement for local knowledge and experience. Whether in Scotland, Spain, Greece, Germany, India China, or Japan, these people have always make me feel welcome, and I try and do the same.

I'll never forget my first couch surfing experience. I was a little skeptical knocking on a random door in Glasgow, Scotland with rain pouring down. The door opened and I was greeted by 4 smiling Australians, and handed a cold beer!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been working remotely and traveling the world since 2007. I have a lot of insight on what it takes to build fully remote businesses that allow you to travel indefinitely or live anywhere you want.

If this life interests you I'm glad to discuss it further.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, help around the house and make myself useful :)

I also own a travel business, tripcoaching.com, and can provide a lot of tips and information on destinations. I also have personally traveled to over 116 countries and share those stories and help my hosts plan their trips.
