Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel. Learn about web design, meet new people, hike, bike, find a career path I'll enjoy.
ABOUT ME
I was raised in Texas, went to school in California, but want to travel as much as I can. I love science and technology, sci-fi, hiking, cycling, reading. I'm a nerd, a Texan, a Scientist, a Burner, and for the first time in my life no longer (officially) a student.
PHILOSOPHY
Figure out how things work; take them apart and put them back together. Work hard. Know why you believe what you do, and be open to change. Do what you enjoy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
A few years ago I had a great experience couch surfing with my ultimate frisbee team. Since then I've lived in dorm rooms and can't host, but hopefully will be able to once I'm back in the States after traveling.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first (and so far only) couchsurfing experience was staying with Little Bear a few years ago in Santa Cruz with my Ultimate Frisbee team- I couldn't have had a better experience and I'm hoping to surf this summer while in Europe with my younger sister. We want to couch surf because we're looking to meet people and see the area. We're hoping to stay with hosts who can spend time with us (though if you can't, we'd also be grateful for a bed) and show us around/give us recommendations/go hiking with us (we're also more than happy to cook and help with chores!). Our trip is open-ended/not destination-oriented, and we're really looking to have an adventure, stay away from guidebooks and tour buses, and make some new friends. :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Before college, I lived in Beijing with my brother for 6 months. We were part of a foreign student's performance at our university's centennial celebration. Most of the dancing was completely ridiculous/hilarious (we were supposed to imitate flowers and put our hands up like pedals, then spin around in circles), but the coolest part of the experience was that it was hosted by Jackie Chan. So, we learned the night of the performance that we'd be dancing on stage with him in front of a hundred thousand people (pretty crazy experience for a mediocre dancer!)... I danced like a flower on stage with Jackie Chan!
Teach, Learn, Share
Things I would love to teach: Bike repair!, Drawing, Cooking/Baking, Chinese & Spanish, Ultimate Frisbee, Photography, English, How to row (crew), (I can also teach about protein self-assembly and the glu/gal pathway in yeast, but not everyone thinks they're as fun as I do ;-p)
Things I would love to learn: Software development, how to play a musical instrument, how to sail
