About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm setting off to collect experiences, meet people who have different stories to my own and creating some of those stories myself.

ABOUT ME

I grew up with hippy parents who regaled me with incredible stories of backpacking all over the world, hitchhiking through Europe, sleeping under train bridges, bribing border guards and eventually settling in a country far away from home. The seed was planted at a very young age and has sprouted into an insatiable need to travel and see everything there is to see. That said, for the last couple of years, I've been putting down roots in the colourful circus that is Berlin, insofar as it's possible to put down roots in such a transient city. My dream though, is to be a crazy old lady living on a commune, primarily busying herself with making jams and tending a vegetable garden. Everybody needs a dream.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel like life is so much more than we have been told: Go to school, go to uni, get a job, get married, buy a house, have kids, retire, die.

None of those things is inherently bad, but being restricting to those things because you think there's no other option is.

I'm determined to experience life in all of its fullness and richness, and I'm happy to get my hands dirty along the way.

More than anything I just want to feel I've created a life worth living because, at the end of it all, that's the only thing I have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm always happy to meet new people, try new experiences and stretch my comfort zones.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to the whole couchsurfing thing officially, but I've had countless friends and strangers crash on my couch and crashed on the couches of countless strangers and friends.
I love the notion of a community of strangers linked by a love of traveling and making the world a friendlier place.

While traveling in England I stayed with a friend of a friend who, though he'd never met me, was incredibly kind, generous and welcoming. He really made my time there unforgettable and I love to extend the same hand to people when I can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was twenty, I spent a week at a music festival and decided to hitchhike to Melbourne from there. It was my first trip by myself and the beginning of a long series of changes in my life.

I ended up getting a ride the whole way from an older woman I met at the festival and together we spent three days on the road, camping out each night. On the first night we stopped at this tiny little beach in the middle of the night. It was pitch black and as I got out of the car I could hear the roar of the ocean but no visual reference to where it was. It sounded like it was all around us and as I looked up I saw the most glorious glittering sky, the Milky Way stretched out from horizon to horizon. It was a rare and beautiful moment and one that I promised myself I would never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach and give henna tattoos and/or mandala drawing. I can walk you through the basics of writing a story or screenplay, I can help you take photos or shoot videos, and can give some basic cooking advice :) I'm also learning about gardening and composting right now, as well as the beginnings of some fermentation experiments!
