About Me

life is about helping each other... not about competing with each other.

Hi, my name is Daniel.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. As a potential host or guest, I appreciate your interest and I look forward to connecting with you.

If you are planning on sending me a host request, please read the highlights of my bio and check the "my home section". Even though there are no "rules", there are basic agreements I would like you to be aware of.

If you are potential host and are reading and considering if hosting me or not... You should go ahead and say yes ;) hahaha. Just kidding. If II send you a request it's because I read your profile and I believe we have things in common and we can get along well.

ABOUT ME:
I enjoy meeting new people, sharing experiences, helping others and learning from different cultures.

I am an introvert who enjoys getting to know people and sharing stories. No, this is not an oxymoron, Talking with people is like reading a book... You get immersed in a new world thru foreign eyes. And I am a nerd who loves reading,.. And lately, listening to audiobooks. (Man, the 30s!!!)

Besides being interest in cultures and the world (as most Couchsurfers, I'd assume); I'm passionate about literature, music, and languages.

I also like dumb memes, bad jokes and sarcasm.

I'm a PhD student, currently finishing my dissertation (cross your fingers so I can graduate in December!!!) and a University instructor.
I teach Spanish-Language courses (I go beyond the "donde está la biblioteca" drill lol) and other courses related to Latin America from a "sociological/anthropological" perspective... Language and politics, films and literature, language in society... etc.

I was born and raised in Quindío, Colombia. Moved to the US in 2017.

ME AS A SURFER:
I don't travel to see places, but to visit people.
I enjoy the anthropological side of Couchsurfing.

AS A HOST:
I can be goofy and explore the city laughing about life with you, or make us tea and chat about life and what we are taking out of it. Either way, please keep in mind: CouchSurfing is a community; NOT A FREE-AIRBNB NOR DATING APP!

I don't dance nor like going to pubs. As mentioned, I am very sociable in small and quiet environments, but terrible in large, crowded, and loud places. I understand some people want to have a 'nightlife' experience, but I'm afraid I won't be your best option for that.

Either as a potential host or guest, Couchsurfing is all about sharing, learning, and making meaningful connections. Let's keep this culture alive by making a more human and better world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get to know people, to learn about their lives, goals, and dreams. To satisfy my love for anthropology, languages, and cultures. To learn about the world. To help others and connect with friends I haven't met yet.

Interests

"Take my advice and live for a long, long time. Because the maddest thing a man can do in this life is to let himself die"... Taken from Don Quijote.

I want my life to be happy, healthy and peaceful...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending hours working on my Couchsurfing profile, hoping that someone will actually read it LOL

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a big Latin American literature nerd (proud of it 🤓 📚), so I can give you tons of recommendations on what to read... Or what to watch.
Same with Heavy Metal music.
