CURRENT MISSION

I'm currently working on a personal project I'm calling "Finding Our Voice: In Search of Sing-alongs and Protest Songs." I'm traveling from Austin, TX to Seattle (and back) connecting with musicians and song leaders who are writing, reviving and teaching songs of protest and community/group singing. ABOUT ME

I live in Austin, TX where I was the General Manager of a neighborhood zero waste grocery store called in.gredients for the better part of five years. I'm also involved with a local merchants association that I founded and serve on the City's zero waste advisory commission, helping craft policy to keep Austin on track for it's 2040 zero waste plan. Before moving to Texas, I spent two magical years living and working in the Green Mountains of Vermont as a house advisor on a therapeutic ranch. I helped support adults, young and old, regain stability and balance in their lives after a mental health or substance abuse crisis by working alongside them in a beautiful, simple outdoor environment. I adored the work, the place, and the people.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I travel "in search of sing-alongs and protest songs," I'll be looking to surf a bit. If you're a musician writing/singing protest songs or promoting group/community singing, reach out - maybe we could also connect for my project.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first surf was in Memphis, TN just after Barack was elected. I was road-tripping from SF back to my home town outside Boston. Since then I've surfed a few warm and welcoming couches from Central MA to northern VT.

Music-making and listening (jamming and writing tunes with friends, seeing live acts in small bars and old music halls, Rise Up Singing.) Meditation - Vipassana. Poetry -- reading aloud and writing. Outdoor adventuring -- on foot, wheels, water, or rock. Food -- growing, cooking, consuming, promoting. Road tripping (been across this country 4+ times in my 283k mile Camry).
