ABOUT ME
After university I turned down job offers and instead decided to travel around the world with my best friend. You can read about it here -- jklworldwide.blogspot.com. It was the best decision I have made to date. The adventure ended with a move to Budapest where I spent an amazing year working and learning a wee bit of Hungarian.
Then, after one extremely awesome USA roadtrip, I moved to Chile to improve my Spanish, to make some money, and to drink as much wine as was socially appropriate.
After conquering wine, I decided to conquer Mandarin, and so found myself en route to Taiwan. So far, Mandarin is winning, but here I am, more than halfway to double global circumnavigation!
PHILOSOPHY
Be happy and make those around you happy.
Drink lots of water.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosted when I was living in LA, Rome, Budapest and Chile. I couchsurfed in 20+ countries while I was backpacking around the world, including many wonderful experience as a surfer in the USA. I also traveled in a campervan in Australia for 3 weeks with some people I met on the website! Now I am ready for hosting people in Taiwan!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One of my fondest memories is when I was living in Rome. We had 3 CSers join us early July - I think I was the only American in Italy celebrating 4th of July, with three Canadians!
Couchsurfing is the way the world should be.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: SUBLIME and Gaga. Movies/Books: I studied Film and Literature at school, so to nail down a definitive list of favorites is actually totally impossible. I love to talk about both!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One time, I was sitting in a train station somewhere outside Haridwar, India. The train had broken down, my friend and I were out of snacks, and India had generally just beaten the crap out of us that day. Out of the blue, and old woman came up and said, in flawless English, "Your face looks sad, it needs a smile." Then, she proceeded to give me the most amazingly genuine smile I have ever seen.
