I am a student in Oulu, Finland. I study Education and Globalisation. Usually I can be found sitting at a computer, in a coffee shop or a library. My hobbies also include running, playing the piano, and eating good food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like traveling and meeting people in new places. I think the best way to get to know a place is to get to know the locals. Otherwise you're just another outsider passing through, instead of experiencing the places you visit.

Interests

I won't lie, I'm a little bit addicted to internet. However, if I have good reason not to stay clustered to my laptop or smartphone screen, I'll gladly let my unhealthy habits go for a while. I actually like spending time in places where no internet is available for that reason.
I also really like playing the piano. I suck at improvisation, but I always like learning new songs and pieces. I had 9 years of classes in classical piano, so that's kind of my forte.
I've also gotten into trying out coffee, mainly because good coffee places are often equipped with decent wifi, or a comfortable place to sit. It's not a cheap hobby, but when I travel I almost always end up drinking coffee somewhere.
Lastly, I'm a huge fan of good food. Even if it's a little pricey, I'll probably still try out whatever is recommended by my friends or locals. And I eat almost anything (except shady street food, I'm pretty protective of my stomach's health).

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music right now is Woodkid, that song from the beginning of the Game of Thrones season 6 finale. My music taste is different every year though. I tend to listen to pretty much everything, with some exceptions of course.
Movie wise, I tend to like movies that are a little puzzling, and hard to figure out. But I'm a fan of good movies in general. My favorite series are Gilmore Girls and Scrubs by the way.
I'm really bad at picking favorite anythings, but I think my favorite book ever is The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was the editor-in-chief of a student literary magazine. That was pretty awesome. Also really tiring and stressful, but kind of amazing anyway.

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure what is meant by this, but I am up for learning anything new. I have the perspective that I don't really know much, so I can always learn more.
I'm not sure if there's a difference between teaching and learning, since a good teacher should be learning from his or her students at the same time.
In any case, I know a few things about language in general, and a little bit more about English and Swedish, and the history of those languages. I'm also an Educational theory major, so I can have conversations about that topic for a little longer than some people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. I don't think I'm a particularly interesting person, but if someone is up for listening to what I've been up to in my short life, I won't refuse to share.
I also have tons of recommendations for places to eat and visit from where I've been.
I tend to also buy food for anyone who helps me, so if you like eating, that's something I'll probably gift you at some point.
