About Me

Living in the southwest has created more of an affection for the southwest and the Mojave Desert. It is such a unique environment. I love cities and being social, but the introvert in me is much more fulfilled and at peace in the solitude of this part of the country. On a daily basis, I meet people from all over the world. I'm always thinking of the next place to visit, myself.

I have spent the majority of my time near Death Valley, for the past 5 years but typically travel during the summer months. I’m about to move to and live in Henderson (Vegas) and can’t offer a place to stay but can provide plenty of travel advice for the California, Nevada and Utah desert regions. I can also discover Vegas with you. Let’s meet up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted close to 20 people in my different houses living in Indianapolis, IN from 2011-2016. What an experience to show my little city to people from around the globe.

I first couchsurfed on my way through Europe for 9 weeks from September through November 2010. Had an amazing time meeting and hanging out with the lovely people of this great community. I have since couchsurfed from time to time on various trips across the US and into Montreal.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So many good ones. Surfed a handful of times through Europe and made some lasting friendships. Surfed one summer a dozen or so times as I rode my bicycle from Northern Maine to Nashville, TN. So many good connections and great stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Human Beings, animals, plants and life never really cease to amaze me. I usually see things on a daily basis that boggle my mind. I used to work in the television industry and was able to travel a good bit of the United States, which sparked the desire to see everyplace and meet everyone.

One of the best things I ever did was sell my car, get rid of my place and travel/stay with others for several years. It has expanded my experiences, stories, friendships and adventure.

Living in California and driving the 1 highway to Portland and various train rides through the west and all the various beautiful places in my favorite state, including a 3 day camping trip in Death Valley (I think that's what initially gave me the travel bug which has forever impacted my life).

Backpacked through Western Europe for 9 weeks including 2 weeks living in a circusvan in a village in Switzerland and 3 weeks on a sheep farm harvesting olives in Tuscany.

Rode my bicycle from Maine to Indianapolis and continuing my ride south for the summer.

Drinking beer in Belgium.

Working in an historic town and giving tours of an amazing opera house. Google: Marta Becket's Amargosa Opera House.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are all just as much students as we are teachers in this life. Every day, every moment is an opportunity to learn, grow, share, educate and be educated. Always keeping my eyes and ears and heart open to the possibilities of life.
