About Me

My girlfriend and I are traveling to France and Spain this April and will be looking for couches!

ABOUT ME

I recently graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Civil Environmental Engineering, with a focus on Water Resources Management and now do engineering work in Baltimore County. In the Spring of 2011, I studied at the Univerisidad Politecnica de Valencia, in Valencia, Spain for 6 months. During that time, I had the most incredible opportunties to travel Europe and North Africa. It was an unforgettable experience, brought to me in part by the great couch surfing community. These days I work full time for Baltimore County DPW at a water treatment plant and take grad classes part time at Johns Hopkins.

PHILOSOPHY

Politically left. Apatheist. Morally humanistic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to host surfers once a week but recently this past year I've been busy with school and work that I haven't really found the energy to do so and I've taken a break. My response rate of 99% has dropped to 50% :( Sorry CS community! I think as things clear up I will start hosting people again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My girlfriend and I went to California last summer where we couchsurfed in Chinatown, San Francisco! We had a great time visiting friends and camping in Yosemite and Big Sur. A couple years ago I hosted a couple from the UK, a group from Israel, a German student among a few others. A few years before that I surfed and hung out with a couchsurfing member named Pablo, who was a University student in Porto, Portugal. He showed us around and we went rock climbing at his Uni. In the same trip, my friends and I received a free tour of a winery, by a very friendly couchsurfing member. We got to experience the rich Portuguese culture and history with our taste buds.

Interests

I enjoy playing guitar, football, American football, baseball, beaches, and bringing up a good conversation on some politics.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love anything from lounge, socially conscious hip hop, dub and drum and bass electronic music, to thrash metal, metalcore, classical music from Barqoue to Modern era, reggae, psychedelic music, 60s and 90s rock music, traditional Arabic and Indian music, and some blue grass.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In March of 2011, I went to Marrakech, Morocco, and took an excursion into Sahara Desert. After a night of a delicious traditional north African dinner and drum circle, and everyone went to sleep, my friends and I climbed a sand dune in total darkness. Getting to the top took some perseverance, but up there, I experience a tranquility, never felt before.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you have any questions on environmental engineering or critiquing the social fabric of American culture and government policy, I'm your guy. I like a good educational discussions. Also learning profanity in foreign languages is always good fun.
