About Me

I was born and raised in South Africa and travelling is something I've always wanted to do. After finishing university I decided to take a working holiday in Canada, but after having lived here for a while, I realized this is my new permanent home.

Vancouver, BC is where I call home. It's an amazing place with so much to offer and do. On a typical summer day, you'll usually find me somewhere out on the beach, running the seawall, or doing a hike in one of the numerous trails our local mountain has to offer. Anything active, you name it and I'll be there. Beach volleyball, kayaking, mountain biking, snowboarding, skeleton (yes it's a sport), snowshoeing, hiking,... the list goes on, and I do it all.

The friends that know me best describe me as active, adventurous, a good sport and a bit of a daredevil. I have to say. Their description is quite accurate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The whole travelling idea is great, but what good is a country if you can't experience its culture? The very thing that defines it. Couchsurfing enables travellers to experience everyday life as the locals live it. It's something no hotel, hostel or any rented place can offer. Living with a host rescues you from the tourist traps. You get to experience everyday living the host country, exchange stories, ideas, viewpoints and so much more. That's the experience I'm looking for when travelling and what a better way to find someone to invite you into their home than Couchsurfing?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done plenty of amazing things in my life, but the one that probably took the most courage was the move to Canada with nothing but a backpack on my back. The day I stepped onto that plane, leaving everything behind, is stuck in my mind as if it happened yesterday (it happend April 17th 2009).
