Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To survive an Icelandic winter then explore Europe.
ABOUT ME
Easy going and friendly. I love exploring the outdoors, writing and meeting new people. I'm a very curious person and I ask a lot of questions, I know how annoying this gets so let me know if it's time to shut up!
PHILOSOPHY
Simplicity and knowledge. I don't know if I would go as far as minimalism but I do believe in leading a simple life. I try to limit the complexities in my life to free my time, and my mind, to focus on things I love.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've finally moved in to my own space in Kits and can finally give back to the community in a little way. Hopefully I can show off my city a little bit.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My Grandparents hired a tour guide to take them around Iceland who just so happened to be a CouchSurfer. Even after my grandparents left he was still very helpful so I decided to join CS. After a year in Iceland I couhcsurfed through the UK with only positive experiences, and now I'm looking forward to more!
Interests
Literature. In the past I have stuck to Fantasy, but have finally started branching out to Fiction and even a bit of non Fiction. I have also stumbled into poetry, writing often and reading a little but loving it all.
Some of my favourite poets are Robert Service and Shayne Koyczan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Phhh. That's tough. I have had such a lucky time in life so far and have witnessed some pretty impressive things.
One thing that comes to mind is a day in the Yukon during my work. I had finished my 'line' and was sitting on the precipice of a small mountain in an impressive fog bank. It wasn't a particularly nice day, the sky was full of clouds delivering their typical afternoon shower. The silence was absolute, interrupted only by my own chewing (I was eating a snack) and the patter of rain on the highland moss. I was in bear country and kind of paranoid so every few minutes I would sit up a little straighter and check around. Though I was paranoid, I never expected to see anything and I was shocked when I looked up and locked eyes with a Caribou. He (I think it was a male, it was by itself and had a serious set of antlers) couldn't have been more than a few meters from where I was, just climbing up the rise to the top of the small mountain. His head and shoulders were all I could see, but he caught and held my gaze and we were both still chewing slowly. Him his grass or moss and me my granola bar. It felt like we had the same reaction to each other, the small amount of shock of an unexpected visitor and a slow threat assessment, all the while trying to look as unthreatening as possible. It was amazing because in that moment I didn't feel at all the superior life form, it felt like we had both let our instincts take control of the encounter I felt equality all the while experiencing the true beauty of the wild.
The whole thing couldn't have been more than forty seconds before he deemed my presence unobtrusive and continued to graze. He didn't come any closer but neither did he bolt. It was truly breathtaking to watch him go about something I'm sure he does every day. As he wandered off in search of greener moss I was left surrounded by silence and rain thoroughly impressed by nature.
