Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Me and 3 of my friends had a great time in the US in september. We drove from Detroit to Toronto, Boston, Cape Cod, NYC, Philly, D.C., through Sheneandoah and Great Smokey Mountains NP, Charleston, Daytona Beach, Key West and ended up in Miami Beach where we took our flight back. In between we regularly ended up on couches of "strangers" at night time, only to leave "friends" behind on the day after. We had a great couchsurfing experience all through our trip, met amazing, generous, open minded people, got a sophistacated image of the american people and their way of life and now I hope I can give something back to the community by offering my couch to "strangers" and make new friendships with people all around the world.

Interests

I'm an active person, rowing is what I enjoy most, being out on the water, just you and the boat, in all weathers, that's an amazing feeling. I also enjoy photography a lot, mainly taking pictures of decaying structures, nature in unnatural environments, curiosities. Books, movies, music and art also play a rather important role in my life. I'm frontman of "The Slacks", read a lot of beat literature and classics, love watching movies and enjoy art, paintings, drawings, movies, music and many more.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Godfather, Scarface, Pulp Fiction, Full Metal Jacket, Mystic River, but also Eldorado, Coffee and Cigarettes (Jim Jarmush in general), the first movies of Luc Besson and many more independent productions.

Huge range: From 60s, 70s psych Rock, over New Wave and postpunk garagerock as of The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Mando Diao, to the electronic stuff of Justice and Kavinsky. Also old School Hip Hop like NWA, Erik B. & Rakim, Run DMC and the not-so-old school Notorious.

The Catcher in the Rye, A Clockwork Orange, Slaughterhouse Five, On the Road, Dostojewski-The Brothers Karamasov/Crime and Punishment, Camus, Sartre, Hermann Hesse-Steppenwolf, and many more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am about to start a 4000 mile road trip by car all the way down the US east coast with friends of mine, without having consulted a travel agency for one little thing, we have planned everything ourselves, everything is booked, everything is set and we are ready to go! I think this will be the most amazing thing I will have seen or done, if it works out :).

Update: The trip is done, 7000km on the road have been driven, what remains are great experiences, images of incredible landscapes, amazing people and the feeling of strong friendship.
