About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to travel Europe with my girlfriend (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/awerner/) meeting new people and making great memories along the way.
ABOUT ME
My name is Jack and I am a student at the University of Puget Sound in Washington State. Currently I am studying abroad in Denmark, and plan to travel around Europe after this semester is over. I am an English and Communications double major who can get along and talk with almost anyone, and I love reading and writing and also have an interest in film, TV, and music.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy, I think, involves looking forward and having an open mind to what is going to come next. I want to take things in an experience them to the fullest extent possible. I also believe strongly in being happy, especially in regards to the people with whom you surround yourself.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book is Blindness by José Saramago. I haven't read a book of his that I haven't liked. I also love Dave Eggers, and have recently read three books by Orhan Pamuk, a fantastic Turkish author. My favorite band changes all the time, but if I had to give an answer it would either be The National or Mumford and Sons. It is also hard for me to name a favorite movie, I think I would probably have to say Memento. Either that or a film by the Coen Brothers, but that's not set in stone either.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I travelled to Kenya after graduating high school for a month to build schools. I travelled with a group, but knew no one in the group going in to it. This experience changed my life. It taught me the value of travel and being open to meeting new people and being involved in new experiences. That's the first of my awestriking experiences, and an experience that I have had again since studying abroad in Denmark.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think I can bring a lot to the table, although I'm finding it hard to say exactly what. I've got a mind for facts and a pretty good knowledge of recent television and film from around the world. I'd love to pick up some traditional recipes from the places I visit!
