Sobre mí

Hey!

I'm from a small town near Québec City called Saint-George, which is literally the world capital of maple syrup, which I think means I win at canadianing, right?

So, what I'm doing at the moment:

I've just finished my bachelor's in water engineering in Québec City, and at the moment I'm gearing up for my Master's project's first research trip, which will take me to Zurich for a month starting on May 11, and then to Kampala, Uganda for the rest of the summer. I'm really looking forward to it, and to be honest it's taking up most of my thoughts these days.

About me:
I love to talk to people about what they're passionate about, be it history, politics, science, fashion, snail farming, it doesn't matter, as long as it makes their eyes light up, I'll be fascinated.
I love to read about and then learn how to do new things. I've recently taken up drawing and I absolutely love it. It feels nice to really think about what's in front of your eyes for a few hours.

So far I've mostly traveled by myself. When I'm in cities I love to explore the nooks and crannies, soaking up the sights, the sounds and the general feel of the place. I like to get lost and then slowly find my way back. When I visit the countryside I usually look for mountains to hike and landscapes to look at, maybe while sipping a beer?

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Several of my friends have tried couchsurfing over the last few years and they've all had very pleasant experiences.

I live in a small place at the moment (no room for a couch :( ) and I'll be away for the summer, but I'll definitely make my couch available as soon as I get one!

To me couchsurfing seems like a great way to travel because it provides a way to meet interesting, new people and it also lends itself to breaking your travel habits and going with the flow, which I love to do.

Intereses

I am a huge fan of running and try to go every other day or so. I've taken up yoga a few months ago and I really enjoy it so far. I also like hiking, drawing and playing music (I mostly play the guitar, but also like messing with bass, the piano and the ukulele). I also like to read about world events and keep up with the news online or on the radio. I love to see and talk about movies, but I rarely do these days.

Algo increíble que he hecho

In 2013 I went on a student exchange in Lausanne, Switzerland. I stayed there for 6 months, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A few highlights I can think of at the moment was the improvised 3-day trip I took to Copenhagen, the weekend I spent snowshoeing up the St-Bernard mountain pass with friends, and hiking to the Gorner glacier in Zermatt.

Last winter me and my friends went to explore Habana for two days during a week-long trip in Cuba and even though it was short, those 36 hours of running all over town, speaking to strangers and having all kinds of bad luck were probably the most fun I've ever had.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I can maybe show you a few tunes on the guitar!
I can also teach you some Québécois French (pretty different from French French; they have to put on subtitles when they watch Québécois movies).
Of course, sharing music and movie recommendations over a pint is always nice :)

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I can make you a mean vegetarian chili, a fresh batch of scones, or a typical Québécois maple syrup pie!
