About Me

I'm a very relaxed person and I love travelling and meeting new people! My two great loves in life are music and outdoor life - I play guitar and did my grade 8 in classical violin in high school. I love hiking, cycling and anything to do with the sea.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently on a mission to see as much of the world as possible while I'm young. I work odd jobs such as gardening and bar tending just so that I can experience the culture and natural beauty that my surroundings have to offer, then move on to the next place. Couch surfing will allow me to meet people everywhere I go, and save on silly hotel fees!

Interests

I love music, art and outdoor life. I also have a great appreciation for aesthetic and functional design of almost any kind.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music wise, I love everything from Bob Dylan, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, Ry Cooder and Leo Kottke to modern rock and metal acts such as Audioslave, Nile and Nightbringer. I also have a great love of obscure European folk music such as Stellamara, the Moon and the Nightspirit and Huun-Huur-Tu. I always enjoyed offbeat movies such as Quentin Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction' and M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Village'. In recent days I have enjoyed 'I Heart Huckabees' and 'ExistenZ'. I love reading and have always enjoyed Stephen King. More recently I have been slowly picking through the works of Ernest Hemingway and 'Thus spoke Zarathustra' by Nietzche.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once camped at a game farm outside Port Alfred, South Africa. I was reading a book one morning when I felt a light brushing on my shoulder - it was a full-grown giraffe leaning down to smell me! It was a truly amazing experience to share my space with such a magnificent animal which clearly felt so comfortable with my presence.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to spend time with liberated individuals who see life as I do - an inexhaustible wealth of experiences requiring only a moments courage to unlock. I believe very strongly in independence of spirit and do not regret the mistakes I have made, nor bare any ill will toward the people who have made my journey more difficult. I believe that these experiences have given me the ability to recognize the value of my own choices moment to moment, and the freedom to make them in a way that is truthful. I believe that the two greatest teachers are experience, and the words of the experienced.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will be most grateful to anyone who allows me to experience their homes and be a small part of their lives. I will bring my good spirits and positive intentions, and hopefully we will remain friends for many years to come!
