Hello! My 12 year old daughter, Laney and I live in a small, resort 'island' in New Jersey. I was raised here so this is 'home' for sure. Here, we enjoy (in the summer months, June-Aug/Sept) fishing, surfing, beach, boardwalk, rides, etc. In the winter it's cold but then we go where we can snowboard!

Laney and I are both pretty active. I am somewhat of a gym rat and my favorite is lifting weights. Laney is more sport-oriented and she loves to play baseball, street hockey, football (american) and soccer (european football). As well as other sports and activities like climbing trees etc.

I lost my mom about a year ago to cancer, rather suddenly and it has made me think about 'what have I really done with my life? I read somewhere that, doing the same thing every day, week, month and year, year in and year out, is not really living. My mother's passing has made me want to LIVE!

SO, We are embarking on a world-adventure, starting late June and plan to travel for as long as 14 months (assuming we make it that long and don't kill each other). LOL. We hope to see as much of the world as we can, and look forward to learning about different people, food and cultures.

We would love to meet up with you 'on the road', in your home-town or while you are traveling. It would also be great to find people with children Laney's age!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My daughter and I are planning to travel the world from late June 2017 until June/August 2018. We hope to hit all the major countries, and would like learn some history, and explore the culture of as many places as we can!
We are looking for friendly hosts who will accommodate us. Obviously, safety is important to us, as I think we'll feel a bit vulnerable out there in the 'big wide world' just the two of us.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music except 'hard rock' and 'rap'. My favorite is probably country, and some folk. I like Pop/top40 too. That's my daughter's favorite.

On books, my daughter is into vampires and the like. I enjoy LOTS of books, about a novel a week, and tend to like mystery, horror, and dystopian teen (think Hunger Games).

As for movies, that's not really my category. My daughter really likes anything superhero. Superman vs Batman. Etc.

Raised a daughter? She's awesome. Super friendly and polite.
I've supported myself since I was 21 years old, and am financially stable.
I learned to surf (barely) at age 39.

I speak only english, but my daughter and I could help in that department
