ABOUT ME

I'm Canadian and I LOVE Canada. I've been across the country more than a handful of times and the bucket list just keeps getting longer. Same with travelling the world, the bucket list continues to grow!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm 53 years young and I love life. I love personal growth and development and learning what really makes people tick. I believe that the more you give, the more you get and that a simple helping-hand rarely fails to be appreciated. I've been given and helped so much, by so many in my life not sure how I could ever doubt that simple truth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Interestingly, I've couch-surfed only a few times when I lived in Calgary, Alberta but two of three situation transitioned into long-term rentals with individuals who have become close personal friends. CouchSurfing has been a huge blessing for me. I landed on the doorstep of a fellow couchsurfer who took me in and gave me time and space to get myself sorted out and settled in Calgary. Roxanne left to travel the world and I found a second home with, Barb, an active CouchSurfing Host. I earned my keep by mowing the lawn and doing various odd jobs like painting the deck, doing some gardening and a little house-keeping too. It was fun! When I got settled in my own home in Calgary, I welcomed Alain as a Couchsurfer and he was a delight! Couch Surfing has been good to and for me!

I moved to New Zealand in September 2019 for a great job which after restructuring went bye-bye in December 2020. Merry Christmas to me! Now on a whirlwind tour of the North Island in case one of the few prospects I have don’t work out and I have to go back to Canada. Not a bad way to spend some time. I’ve already met some great people!

Interests

I love business books (Straight from the Gut, The World is Flat, John Maxwell's leadership books, Freakonomics and more), personal discovery and fiction (Pillars of the Earth and World Without End) These are a few of my favorites!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching a family of four ride on one bicycle in Beijing. Dad was driving, one young one was riding on a front rack on the handle bars and mom was sitting on a rack on the back of the bike breastfeeding an infant. I thought it was truly amazing!

I'm interested in people. I can share my personal and professional interests. As a Life Coach (in a recent but previous life), I love helping people gain new insights into themselves and to move forward with their dreams.
