About Me

I should say in this section “about us” as I am travelling with my daughter Pia, who is 21.
Our travel started 10 years ago in New Zealand and Australia, took us into 11 countries, 4 continents and over 35 cities, and never really stopped.

Always on the road, off the beaten track in search of deep truths, welcoming every opportunity that life has to offer.

3 years ago we dropped the masks, and the unsaid. We put all the truths on the table. Some not always easy to hear, but so essential. From there we rebuilt something new, far from the mother-daughter relationship, we learned to appreciate each other for who we were. We knew that the path we wanted to take could not be done alone. A path which would lead to the opposite of what society has to offer, to the opposite of what is considered as "acceptable". Far from dramas and unfounded arguments. We have walked so far together, welcoming life as if it were our first rain, agreeing to walk without knowing the destination, and learning from everything that comes our way.

Are we passionate about being in eternal movement? I don't know, but what is certain is that each new destination works like a complete reset opening a new path of exploration and discovery, keeping us alive, allowing us not to fall asleep, not to forget why we are on the road and what our mission is.

Philosophie:

Our life philosophy is to follow the seemingly unimportant. So far we've found much wisdom and beauty in what most believe not to be worth a detour.

Our last project is to build a Mobile Observatory Unit and travel around Canada and America following the pattern of the constellation. Bringing us to places where we would never go otherwise, looking for the non-sensational.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because time is meant to share and experiment not just between us but with those who are interested.
Let's say it would be like being Calvino's Baron perched on a tree looking at the world from another angle and other Barons joining us, engaging in a new reflection with several voices, and several points of view. After these months spent away from the world, we no longer have many tangible things, but many more to share: our forever passion for cooking, our philosophy of life, our love and attention, our joy of living, our discoveries, and our secrets. That's what we believe true sharing should be, beyond the material and the tangible.

Interests

We love discovering new places and new people as well as small things in life: the fire crackling in the fireplace, the wind playing with leaves, watching the rain falling behind the window, walking in nature, swimming in every body of water even when it’s freezing, cooking and eating good food.

  • reinvent the world
  • discover hiding gems
  • where no one expects them

Music, Movies, and Books

We like things that challenge us and make us think. Pia is a fan of Tolkien and Miasaki’s work (both movies and books). My 2 favourite movies ever are 12 Angry Men and M For Murder, and for the books I don’t know, I like social fiction 1984, The Animal Farms, Candide from Voltaire, The Barefoot Architect and I always cry when I read The Little Prince.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having traveled for so long our life is filled with things that are off the beaten track…
To tell you some of them, we completely gutted the interior of a caravan, redesigned it and built it with my two daughters who were 14 and 16 at that time. While living at the same time in a community in the Australian rain forest amidst snakes, hand-sized spiders and giant lizards.

We also played chess sitting in the middle of the Costa Rican river just under a family of monkeys looking at us.

Teach, Learn, Share

We love to share our passion for problem-solving and any good ideas about reinventing the world. We can teach drawing lessons, origami, mosaic. We can cook a good meal, share recipes. Make tarot reading and teach you how to listen to your intuition or how to find your totem animal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are happy to lend a hand. If travelling means one thing it is to experience everything that comes along. This made us 2 Jacks of all trades, (we worked on farms, on building projects, painting, tiling, permaculture… and much more…)
