I think most things in life are funny, and I'll laugh at your jokes.

I'm not currently in a housing situation that allows for me to host surfers, but as soon as I am I'm gonna be all over it. I've been floored by the generosity of strangers throughout my life, and I think this is a really cool way to extend that.

I'm still recovering from a 2001 garage sale in which my mother surreptitiously sold an awesome lime green velvet armchair AND our copy of Wayne's World.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because people are the most interesting thing about being alive, and I tend to like the sort of people that are part of couchsurfing as friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of music. I perform folk, classical sacred, jazz, and opera/artsong.

I read a lot, but my favorite genres are Russian realism, short stories, theology, poetry (with a soft spot for German romantics), and sci-fi/fantasy (but this genre is totally dependent on the quality of the prose).

Some movies I'm into include The Fountain, The Princess Bride, The Brothers Bloom, Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, 45 Years, This is Spinal Tap, Generation War (actually a TV miniseries, but whatever) Purple Rose of Cairo, and Life is Beautiful.

I'm bad at lists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started a project called the American Train Collective that puts people on trains and gets them to write and record music. It's VERY fun.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll be interested in your life and want to hang out with you! I'm more than competent in a kitchen, and would be happy to cook meals/help with cooking meals if you want to eat together. I'm a musician--most of what I'm really good at is classical singing, which isn't necessarily "jam"able, but if you play music I'm going to be interested in singing with you/chunking chords along on piano if we need it! And this should go without saying, but I'm a considerate, respectful houseguest.
