About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just moved to Canberra for Uni. Would love to meet up with other travelers and do something fun.

ABOUT ME

Hi! I've been travelling for a few years now, decided its time to settle for a little bit and finish my studies. I would like to keep up with travelling peeps though and maybe even pay back a bit of backpackers karma that I've accumulated on my account over the years.

PHILOSOPHY

I think Dr Seuss put it perfectly for me - "I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient to living"

Both my study in psychology and travel experience have led me to believe that people are amazing, interesting, mysterious creatures. I think that it is not until you have shared a joke with someone who doesn't speak a word of your language, and you none of theirs, that you really understand that humans are ultimately the same everywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I both surf and host when I'm able. I love to join events, meet people and will always help where I can. I've been to a few different couchsurfing events around Europe/US/Asia/Straya. These were my first introduction to couchsurfing, and I was really appreciative of the chance to meet like-minded people in a relaxed atmosphere.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had some great experiences in Europe and the US, both through couchsurfing and unofficially with random friends met on the road. I've enjoyed both hosting and surfing.

Interests

Travel!! Watching sport (football/soccer, rugby, cricket, almost anything really), trying other languages (usually pretty badly). Eating and drinking - everything! Trying new foods is one of my favourite parts of traveling. I have to admit to possibly being more fond of drinking and socialising than is advised by health authorities, but hey I'm Australian, it's practically congenital right? ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Stuff! It changes all the time, I wish I could read all day though.

I have recently revived my love for international movies after a hiatus. The focus on human relationships rather than plot lines really grabs me. I love that feeling waking up the day after watching a movie and still thinking about it . . .

I enjoy many different sorts of music, except really country and rap in languages I don't understand/Iggy Azalea (sorry Iggy). I'm open to having my views changed though. I'm mainly an indie/rock kind of a girl, but I love different music in different contexts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to the last 4 World Cups for football. Nothing is quite like seeing the world come together in this way. I love the atmosphere and it provides such an easy basis to get to know people from all over the world (even if you don't understand the offside rule haha).

I'd love to tell you all the other things I've seen on my travels, but there isn't enough space, so it will have to wait until we meet in person!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've wandered into 70+ countries now, so I'm a keen backpacker and am more than happy to share my thoughts. I'm also happy to teach Australian slang and phrases that don't make sense to the rest of the world! I can even make my patented tiger toast with vegemite for the adventurous ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, company, help with whatever is going on chez host, hopefully some pleasant times.
