Overview
About Me
I am married and we have a blended family of 4 kids who range in age from 14-23.
I am a massage therapist and live in a small town in Iowa.
I've been on somewhat of a spiritual/self-development journey the last few years. Learning more about the mind/body connection and how trivial things that happen to us in our early years program our way of thinking as adults. Trying to incorporate meditation and yoga into my daily life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new and interesting people.
I love the concept of Couchsurfing!! What better way to find out from locals about the place you are staying. And I'm always up for making new friends.
I was born and raised in small town Midwest. I want to learn and experience all that lies beyond there.
Interests
Reading - usually something in self-development or health related. If I start a novel that really grabs me, I tend to get a little consumed and will do nothing else. :)
My hubby and I like to drink coffee and play Rummy in the mornings. We have our own set of rules, though, and I don't think I could ever go back to playing the original way.
Would love to learn how to play guitar. I've had one for a couple of years, thinking it would be easy to pick up since I played piano and clarinet when I was younger, however my fingers have so far not cooperated with that dream.
Watching my kids play baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball.
My family loves to go camping. I enjoy being in nature, but the packing of the camper, planning, unpacking and cleaning it after tend to put a damper on the "fun" factor for me. I'm working on that tho ;)
Traveling of course! A few summers ago, our family and also my mom went on a 16-day roadtrip pulling the camper. We visited the Wild Animal Sanctuary in CO, Grand Canyon, California coast (first time to see the ocean for the kiddos), Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Black Hills, and Mt. Rushmore.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a variety of music. I have been a devoted Tim McGraw fan since the summer of '95. I will proudly admit that I love jamming out with my kids to Taylor Swift ;) Bon Jovi, Guns 'N Roses, Poison, Tesla - those are always great to listen to and bring back lots of good memories of younger years. My teenage daughter has recently got me into Andy Black (lead singer of Black Veil Brides, but a totally different sound on his solo album). We've traveled to a couple different states to see him.
I like movies that have a story and meaning behind them most. Comedies are good too. I'm not much into the action packed ones with lots of violence and crashing up cars/blowing up buildings, etc. I can't help but think of what a waste of money that is to make and how much good could have been done with it instead. I get that people like to be entertained and all, but yeah just can't get into those lol.
Books - covered that above.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had the opportunity to spend a weekend at the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, CA learning meditation, yoga and hearing talks from Deepak Chopra, David Simon and Davidji. Amazing experience!
Got to swim with dolphins in Jamaica on my honeymoon.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning about new things and different cultures.
I would love for someone to teach me some basics on the guitar.
