Overview
About Me
I'm an independent Graphic Designer working and living in Cape Town, South Africa. I was born in this beautiful country on the tip of the African continent, but also spent a great deal of my childhood living in Namibia where my parents ran a nature reserve that hosted a large part of the Fish River Canyon. Because of this, I have met many people of many nationalities from an early age, and have always been fascinated by different people and cultures.
I'm incredibly passionate about design and music, and because of this, I'm also a DJ from time to time. One of my big dreams is to travel the world and live in different countries, meeting new people, experiencing new places and new ways of life, learning about new cultures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a newcomer to Couchsurfing, and I chose this avenue as a way to get a first-hand introduction to the cultures and people of the places that I visit.
Interests
Design, Art, Music, Travel, Reading, Outdoors, Cooking, Adventure, Salsa dancing (just beginning to learn), Learning new languages, Meeting new people
I absolutely adore live music, whether electronic artists or bands, and spend a lof of my free time attending music festivals and events around Cape Town - it's worth it! If I'm not doing that, I enjoy getting out into the beautiful nature of Cape Town, eating good food, drinking good wine and socialising with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
I could write an entire essay on this list, so I will keep it short.
Music: As a DJ, my electronic tastes range from house, afro-house, gqom, deep tech, tech house and techno. But my personal tastes range way beyond that. I love anything that moves me, no matter the time period or genre.
Movies: I'm completely in love with Sci-Fi!
Books: Again, a whole range of genres from fiction to memoirs and biographies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm visiting Paris with my business partner to receive a Netexplo Innovation award for a project that we worked on together - an app that can translate between any of the 11 official national South African languages. Our project was also part of 2014 Cape Town World Design Capital, under the "Bridging the Divide" category. In 2014 we were listed by Fast Company as one of the Top 10 most innovative companies in Africa.
Teach, Learn, Share
How to greet someone in Xhosa, one of South Africa's most common national languages:
"Molo!" ("Hello" to one person)
"Molweni!" ("Hello" to more than one person)
"Unjani?" ("How are you" to one person)
"Ninjani?" ("How are you" to more than one person)
"Ndiphilile, Ndiyaphila." ("I am well" from one person)
"Siphilile. Siyaphila. " ("We are well" from more than one person)
How to greet someone in Afrikaans, another South African national language:
"Goeiedag!" ("Good day")
"Hoe gaan dit?" ("How are you?")
"Dit gaan goed, dankie." ("I am well, thank you.")
