Overview
About Me
I have worked in the financial sector for the past 9 years of which the past 3 yrs in India. Before starting my career (straight out of college) I did a couple of internships abroad (via Aiesec). This is how the travel-bug started. Spent in total 1.5 year in India and 5 months in Colombia. Loved the adventure. Poor but happy :-)
I ended up back in Holland and landed myself some very interesting jobs. First in the dealingroom of a large Dutch bank and later at an asset manager which eventually sent me to India. After 3 years of expat life I was ready to quit my job for a bit to start traveling. While I am a hard worker and been very successful in my jobs, there is so much more to life! Travels, food, sports, culture, art. My curiosity and interests have no boundaries. You won't find me lying on a beach or sitting in front of a TV for too long. I want to learn, explore, meet people, grow, experience and develop myself.
I quit my job in order to travel with a friend (Julia Conrad, also on Couchsurfing) and re-orientate myself upon my future. Eventually I want to start a business of my own in Austin, Tx (has quickly become one of my favorite cities in the US), the dreams one has.. (but hey am determined on making this a reality one day, did I mention I am not a quitter..?!.). I'm planning to travel for 1.5 years across the world and already half way in. Time flies. Yikes!
I love sports and good food, so that keeps my body in balance. Recently discovered meditation so getting a stronger mind now too ;-) Also love nature, reading, movies, music, fun & adventures. So yes, during my recent journey I realised I love FOOD! I will walk an hour, wait in line for 2 to get that particular dish at a local favourite dive. Great food cities so far: India (Mumbai, Amritsar, Delhi, Bangalore and more), Penang (Malaysia), Singapore, South Korea (Seoul, Jeonju and discovering more)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Great concept! Have only once myself hosted a couch-surfer but plan to do that more in future once I have settled down again (will it ever happen??). It's a great way to meet people and learn about the local culture etc. etc.
