About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be as active and useful as I can and to enjoy it all

ABOUT ME

I am energetic, sociable and love meeting new people as well as keeping in contact with friends and family.
I worked at a Centre for Deaf and handicapped children in Rwanda and loved the children and the work.
I prefer the country to town but really enjoy the theatre and cinema, reading, discussing anything and everything with friends. I like animals, especially dogs and horses and used to ride a lot. I am full of curiosity about the world and the people who live in it and am hoping to continue travelling and being useful where I can.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that compassion for all people is key to harmonious society. I try to keep my mind active and my body fit and healthy. I try to be positive and to enjoy life to the full by sharing and respecting all creeds and ideas. Live and love!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm happy to offer accomodation to anyone visiting North Dorset. I like the couch surfers to share the cooking and it's great if they introduce their own specialities! I usually ask surfers to contribute to the meals, especially if they are staying more than 1 night.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had very positive experiences with nearly all my surfers. I've learnt about Korea, Australia, America, Spain, Portugal,Iceland, Germany and many others and really enjoyed sharing food and experiences with my visitors. It's all fun, interesting and good for international relations!
Based on one or two experiences where surfers have abused my hospitality I would ask guests to be up by 10.00am and not to spend more than `10 minutes in the shower!
The best surfers have really entered into the experience of living here: helped in the garden, met my friends, watched movies, walked the dog, joined in meal preparation and sat around chatting and sharing views, experiences and ideas.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most kinds of music but will usually listen to classical and opera. I don't like heavy metal!
books - History, travel, biography, fiction - thrillers without too much blood and gore!
Films - not too much violence or sci fi but otherwise pretty much anything!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen how Deaf students in Rwanda could put on a show in front of 500 people and reduce some of them to tears by their skill, energy and hope.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to be able to share some of the history and beauty of this area of England with visitors. I am anxious to learn about other people and their cultures. I can teach some Welsh or some sign language. i can share some of my experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my home and dog with visitors and show them some of the beauties of this part of the world. This is a very welcoming and friendly village.
As I've only recently moved here it would be great to explore with other people and discover wonderful places.
