About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Fall out of the window with confetti in my hair

ABOUT ME

This morning there were quite a few insects in the kitchen. Someone had left a window open, I suppose. I didn't bother too much about them, and certainly didn't try to kill them.

PHILOSOPHY

You live, therefore you must strive to feel happy and help others. All the not-so-happy-or-helpful times are just practise. If I come across a holy book outlining this philosophy with some exciting supernatural stuff thrown in, I'll let you know.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In any way I can -- when I'm home my house is yours, and when I'm out and about, I'll give you a shout.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The first 'surf I had was in LA, and I had just arrived in the land of the free on a long flight from Fiji. I made my weary way from the airport to Paul's place, ready to collapse, but when I arrived he mixed me a martini, whisked me away to an Indonesian restaurant and energised me with his talk. He showed me the local enormous Mormon church and discussed the Phillipines. He helped me with buses. He explained the finer points of the drag queen talent show on telly. In short, he took a night that for me would otherwise have involved checking into a hovel to sleep a dreamless sleep, and gave it life!

Interests

Insects spinning silk, thumb pianos, basil, hip-hop, the Chuckle, the Giggle, the After Lunch Wiggle. All the good stuff, wine and song, books and people, Bob and Jess and Abdullah and Greg and all the rest of you folks.
And there probably are even a few things I'm not interested in now that I'll be into in the future, like accountancy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sat with some Torajan people in Indonesia around a fire next to a rice paddy. With our hands we pulled carp from the water, and drank palm wine as fighting roosters strutted past and an albino water buffalo grazed at the edge of the jungle. I could have sworn I caught a glimpse of The Phantom, on his horse Hero, staring silently out from the shadows.

Teach, Learn, Share

Would you like to know how to clean a leek? Perhaps I could show you how to draw an anatomically (fairly) correct human foot? Or I might tell you some wild stories about life in Australia. I'd be very keen to learn some of the South Indian lingo :) I used to moonlight as a cook in a tasty little cafe in Sydney, so I can chop up mushrooms at great speed, and I LOVE to cook, so if you have recipes to impart I'll be plum satisfied.

Countries I’ve Visited
