About Me

I'm a long-time traveler and a host when my living situation is appropriate. I love traveling and backpacking, but being able to see the world without leaving my town is a wonderful thing, too - that's what's beautiful about couchsurfing. I am the director of a land trust in the middle of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and I love playing music, reading, walking, and just chilling.

I live in a cabin just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park with my dog, Cauliflower ("Cauli").

I have been Couchsurfing for a long time and take pride in being able to teach new people the ways of the community.

FALL 2023: Still rebuilding from the wildfire, but I can't wait to start hosting again soon! Goal is to have a functioning house by Fall 2024.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I wish to learn as much as possible, as well as teach as much as possible. Spreading the wealth of knowledge around the world, and thus creating and expanding the network of all.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When traveling, usually one-night visits through a place. I also embrace the CS community when I need to travel for work, life for conferences and retreats. And as a host, my couch is open for mostly everyone!

Music, Movies, and Books

My bedtime songs as a kid consisted of the Grateful Dead and Arlo Guthrie, I grew up to Sublime and The Offspring, matured into Reggae and local punk, and now have delved into a strong techno and hip-hop base. However, thanks to my flute playing, classical music (orchestral and opera) has always been there, as well as musical (Broadway) pieces. Funk and indie rock, folk and punk, techno and piano. It'll be a hard task to find a genre that I won't enjoy a bit.

I enjoy a lot of the cult films, like Boondock Saints, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Princess Bride and the Fifth Element. My comedy is of the Marx Brothers. My long-lasting love for fantasy also exists here, with only the beginning being of Lord of the Rings.

For books, I am going through more of a sci-fi phase, with a lot of history, anthropology, and conservation non-fiction thrown in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once herded four cows into the mountains while I was staying on a farm in southern Italy. It was our day off from the farmwork, and one of the local shepherd needed, or just wanted our help. So one other guy and I took some staves, and the shepherd drove off ahead, after telling us kind of where to go. We lost a cow once, just barely, but it was successful, and amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach what I can about music, and expand both my own and your views on how nature affects us. I can also divulge into basic religion and the aspects of culture and the evolution of civilization.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of great stories, a homemade dinner, and/or a ready audience! I enjoy playing board games as much as I do just sitting around reading or watching a movie.
