About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"Engage in activities that make life more rich, intense, and meaningful"...quote from someone I forgot
ABOUT ME
I'm curious. Curious about the world, food, drinks, and pretty much spend all my time/money/energy outside of work traveling or exploring new hobbies.
I've published some books in the past, so I guess I'm technically a writer...but I like reading more than I like writing. I love coffee, and beer, and wine. and cannot stand stuff that is too sweet.
I live in chicago, but work takes me out of town most of the time.
I speak 3 languages fluently, lived in 4 countries before, and traveled through another 35 countries so far. I am an avid backpacker, trekker, and photographer. I cook, I read, and love to meet new people and hear people's stories.
PHILOSOPHY
Be open, meet new people, learn new things, and be a better person. Life is short, I try to see and experience as much as possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host couchsurfers when I'm in town in Chicago, and try to meet up with people when I'm traveling.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met a lot of couch surfers last time when I backpacked across Europe.
So far, I've mainly been on the hosting side.
I started offering my couch in February 2012, and so far, I've been having a blast.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Wishing someone can educate me in music
Books:
I've been reading the complete works of Japanese author Murakami Haruki recently. Started off reading the Chinese versions....now doing the Japanese versions.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've climbed Mt. Fuji at night before. Reached the top before sunrise, and witnessed the most beautiful sunrise on earth.
I hitchhiked my way into Cinque Terre, Italy from some random small town in Southern France when I backpacked through Europe.
I completed the Shikoku Henro Pilgrimage in Japan. It's a 1200km trek on foot passing through 88 temples in 39 days, making a clockwise loop around the island of Shikoku.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a fairly decent cook (Chinese, Japanese, some french/italian).
I'm starting to get into homebrewing and also some furniture making.
