Overview
About Me
My partner Sara and I are walking the Via Francigena in September and October 2023, from Aosta to Rome. We are hoping to couchsurf as much as possible to meet local people as we don’t know how many we will meet when walking. I can also then practice my Italian which I have been studying for this trip.
We try and do one long distance hike every year, and have walked the Camino de Santiago 7 times.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couch surfing is a great way to meet people. We are doing a long distance hike in Italy so want to meet local people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m loving audio books at the moment. I love the Harry Potter series, the Wheel of Time series, Lord of the Rings, anything by Janet Evanovich, Martin Cruz Smith, Mick Herron. I mostly love sixties and seventies music, especially Leonard Cohen.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked for Greenpeace for seven and a half years, mostly in the sea turtle campaign. We were very successful in helping to stop the international trade in sea turtle products and getting full protection for sea turtles in Mexico, Indonesia and many Pacific islands.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Sara my partner can conjure up amazing meals with very few ingredients. Between us, we speak English, French, some Spanish, German and a bit of Italian, which I’m studying hard. We are very good listeners.
