About Me

I am a teacher. I live in a cooperative house with four friends of different ages and backgrounds.

I work in local schools helping student feel safe and included by preventing bullying, and solving peer conflicts.

I also instruct through a Bird School: teaching students how to use binoculars and taking them outdoors to learn to observe and connect with nature through birds.

In my spare time I make steel sculptures that spout flames and digital art for non-profits.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people and sharing ideas and practices for living a connected life. I teach conflict resolution, communication and social/emotional skills to young students. I love to share these.

I have been traveler much of my life. My family moved every 1-2 years when I growing up. My father taught oceanography in the University. My mother taught me to make crafts, and we traveled to different cities to sell handmade wooden toys and cloth neck-ties. Since then I've always enjoyed travel, meeting people and finding our connections, conversations and shared interests.

Interests

I live in a cooperative house and we often have friends coming over for a meal or game nite.

I enjoy observing and solving puzzles in nature. Why do the acorn woodpeckers spend all day moving their acorns from one hole to another?

The best is cooking and sharing good food, like that sour-dough pizza made by the baking cooperative down the street.

Whenever possible I'm taking people on hikes and bikes through my beautiful town. Since I have begun birding, I enjoy taking people out to see the white pelicans of the Monterey Bay and the California Condors of Big Sur. Come to my town and I will show you around.

I also enjoy making art: silver jewelry, steel sculptures and exotic lamps (out of an old 8mm movie projector and damaged trombone).
