About Me
Jeff Grace, a native Southern Californian, has a unique creative prospective from working in the world of photojournalism and travel photography for over 30 years. He also has a business sense as well, since he operated a commercial business and spent many years in the field of photographic sales and marketing.
Jeff is a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara California where after graduation he interned and freelanced for various photographic studios in Northern California. Returning to the Los Angeles area in the mid 1980’s he worked as store manager of a photo lab and eventually made the transition into sales and marketing for major photographic labs in the Los Angeles area.
Realizing that the advent of digital photography was being more apparent in the late 1990’s, Jeff made the decision to concentrate on photojournalism. Jeff accepted a staff position with La Opinion Dario, the largest Spanish language newspaper in the United States. During his tenure he covered breaking news, concerts, sporting events, life and style, political and food assignments. Since La Opinion focus is on the Latino market, his assignments many times fell outside normal mainstream news stories and instead focused on the plight of the Latino population as a whole.
Jeff also had numerous opportunities to follow County firefighters, rescuers and other first responders into the heart of the California wildfires and mudslides that devastated the population in the early 2000s. It fits with Jeff's photojournalistic viewpoint that photos should record historical and current events no matter how catastrophic the images may be.
In 2010 Jeff retired from La Opinion and has since concentrated fully on projects that are more personal to his heart such as cartel drug violence in Mexico.
