About Me

Explorer, crappy ukulele player, and admitted nerd. Skilled wanderer who's trying to sit still for a little while. Computer nerd both as a profession and as a past-time. Newbie maker, aspiring to be a renaissance man.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Rather than confine myself to hotel rooms on my adventures, I like to spend time with locals and other adventurers, hopefully putting our heads together to solve all the world's problems. Or just shooting the shit about interesting ideas and concepts.

Interests

Meeting interesting people, especially those who hold clues about The Great Scavenger Hunt that is Life. If I'm around interesting people, pretty much everything else falls into place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Johnny Cash will do just fine. Also, healthy doses of Steve Earle, John Prine, and Willie Nelson. Not to mention the Drive-By Truckers and all they've influenced.

Movies - Anything by the Coen Brothers (This Dude abides "The Big Lebowski"), and Wes Anderson. I also aspire to actually like Bollywood flicks. And "Idiocracy" is one of the most brilliant movies ever made.

Books - You just can't beat Kurt Vonnegut.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've ridden Spaceship Earth for 49 consecutive years without falling off. I've also traveled on a cargo ship and been berated by a cop in Jordan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always interested in learning foreign languages.

My "learn" list these days includes welding, sewing, sailing, kite surfing, auto repair and ukulele. That said, I'm interested to learn just about any trade or skill, and to learn about all cultures and people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a computer nerd so I'd be happy to exorcise any computer demons you might have.

If you have tools, I can be pretty handy so I'm happy to fix stuff around your home.
