About Me

I'm a Gemini from the southern US living in New York City for the past 15 years. I like animals and chickpeas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I recently left my job as a managing editor after working continuously for different magazines for the past 20 years. I want to travel and meet people from all over. Obviously I am on a budget without a job.

Interests

I love to travel, write, cook, eat, drink, make things, draw things, take pictures. At the moment I am working on building a business in food; southern US food to be exact. One thing I have to do when traveling is try the local food! You never know where you'll find inspiration! I love the outdoors and hiking but those activities can be complicated living in NYC. Admittedly, fashion and food are big interests of mine that had led me to my previous occupation as an editor.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ooooh, this can go on and on! New things come up everyday so I will stick with my shortlist of classics:
• Book: Murakami's Wind Up Chronicle
• Movies: Alien and In The Mood For Love
• Music (This one is hard): Bowie, XX, Old Jazz (Coltrane, Reinhardt, Monk), punk, etc…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One? Amazing? I've done more cool things than amazing. Through work I have been introduced to amazing people. I have been a part of teams that have launched major magazines. Moving from Alabama to NYC to work in a very cool world has been amazing. Winning digital design awards and receiving accolades for my photography has been great too.
I help feed those in need at a community kitchen in Brooklyn.
Midnight swimming in Hawaii with a Manta Ray that had a 16ft wing span was amazing. That was after swimming with sharks (me in a cage of course). AWESOME.

Teach, Learn, Share

The obvious is that I can help with English language. Also, I can help you with your digiSLR and I know cool places in NYC. I love to learn about other cultures especially how it affects contemporary fashion and art. And I just might cook for you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you need help with English, I am good for that. I can take your picture ;-) Cook, especially vegetarian food.
