About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living, learning, enjoying. I'm currently trying to focus on doing jobs I really enjoy that are easy to travel while working, so I did Massage Therapy school, some yoga teacher trainings, and I'm looking into getting more experience teaching ESL.

I'm also on a mission to get a 2nd passport - Brazil! I'm almost done with the dual citizenship process!

ABOUT ME

I'm Jeff, I live in Austin,TX and I love it! I love to travel and take every chance I get. The last few years I've been to India (most amazing country in the world), lived in Honduras for a while and worked at an awesome hostel there on an island. I just went to Africa (Ethiopia and Djibouti) for the first time. I work in social work with teenagers and I love it. I'm currently trying to learn French, and I'm always interested in new languages.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to always continue doing interesting things with my life. I really believe that we all are One and in travel you'll learn more about yourself and make yourself a more complete person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted by a really great Brazilian guy in Mexico City, had a really fun time camping with strangers in Monterrey,Mexico and my roommates and I hosted a hilarious French girl in Austin and she ended up staying much longer than she'd planned and went traveling across the country with some of our friends!

Interests

Biking, swimming, hiking, camping, canoeing, traveling of course, foreign languages, music, politics, reading. I'm interested in communal living and spent 5 months living in a hostel/group house/retreat center in Brazil last year. My favorite thing to do in a new city is go bike around and explore neighborhoods on bike, and have picnics in parks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmmmmm tough question, a lot of stuff. I love a lot of latin music, reggaeton, reggae, bluegrass, gypsy punk,New Age, African music, everything really. Movies I like documentaries a lot, and anything in a language that I'm learning (so currently French movies are my focus). I love reading, but don't necessarily have a favorite genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood on top of the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan in pouring rain. Visited Landless Workers Movement camps in Brazil. Hitchhiked across Goias,Brasil and hitchiked all over Honduras. Lived in a commune of volunteers in a broken building after the Aug2007 earthquake in Pisco,Peru.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach yoga, help you practice Spanish or Portuguese, and I'm a massage therapist!
