Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in Michigan, but have been wandering the past several years. In August of 2016, I came back from an 11 month solo trip abroad. It was a great experience and was the first time I used couchsurfing. It's a great platform and once I figure out the next phase of my life, I would love to host myself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To have the opportunity to meet local people, make friends, and have the most genuine travel experience I can!
Interests
I like to bike, hike, ski, cook, camp, travel, try new foods, drink tea, and spend time with good people. I can seem shy at times (more introverted), but once I connect with someone I enjoy having meaningful intellectual conversations with them. I also love photography, but feel like I am only at an introductory level. I'm also a huge fan of mountains and would love to live near some one day! I am a progressive and have been doing my best to get engaged in the political process.

Music, Movies, and Books
I mostly enjoy "indie" type music, but I am open to all music that comes from the heart and is thought provoking or makes me want to move. I always like to be listening to new sounds. Some recent jams I've listened to from are Sufjan Stevens, Basia Bulat, Jenny Lewis, Lily & Madeleine. St. Lucia, TV on the Radio, and alt-J.
I grew up playing the drums so I would say I have a good rhythmic ability although I haven't played regularly in years, so I'm a bit rusty!
I don't watch tons of movies, but I do have some favorite TV shows including Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black, Transparent, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, and Freaks and Geeks for a frame of reference.
I do enjoy a good book, but don't spend enough time doing it. I most recently read a book on the Great Lakes Region (where I am from). It was a great book on the geological and human history of the lakes. The author tells the story while take a journey on a tall ship from Michigan all the way to the Atlantic Ocean and East Coast of the U.S.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had the opportunity to do a very iconic hike (to Half Dome) in the U.S. a couple years ago in Yosemite National Park. The end result was where my profile picture is taken from.
That experience was part of a 12-day solo road trip I took from Los Angeles to San Francisco, California. I snaked my way along the coast up through several national/state parks including Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Pinnacles, Point Lobos, and Point Reyes.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not sure I have much to teach at this point in my life, but I highly value and admire wisdom. One thing I strive to do is minimize my possessions and live simply. I don't own very much and would like to keep it that way. I feel that in America this is an attitude that is not wildly practiced or understood. We tend to be large consumers of most everything and I personally don't agree with that sentiment.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I really enjoy cooking/food and hiking so maybe I could prepare a meal and share a hike! I consider myself a fairly open minded person so I would like to exchange idea and have great conversations!
