About Me

I'm a island boy from the west coast of Canada who recently discovered a passion for learning languages. I plan on using language learning as an excuse for travelling long term. I hope to become fluent in five or six languages eventually. It's just so cool.

My passions include singing, playing guitar, rock climbing, and languages.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to make meaningful connections with other travels and kind people. I want to be shown the intricate parts of a city, the real heart of the places I visit.

Interests

Alongside my passions for singing, guitar, rock climbing, and languages I've also started to enjoy running, biking, dancing, watching live music, and generally joking around and being sarcastic.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love music so it's hard to pick favourites but I tend to lean towards Bobby McFerrin for his amazing voice, Tommy Emmanuel for his amazing guitar skills, and Jason Mraz for his amazing combination of voice, guitar, and lyrical genius (at least in his earlier stuff, also now but not as much). My favourite artists to listen to at the moment are Allen Stone, Vulfpeck, Lake Street Dive, and Justin Timberlake. So, basically funk, soul, and pop are my go-to genres.

Movies: Roxanne, Three Amigos, Caddy Shack, and pretty much any classic Disney movie. I don't keep a list so it's hard to remember them all.

Books: I've only just started to get legitimately interested in reading so I don't have a huge collection of books, but so far my favourites have been ASoIaF, How We Learn, Roots, 1984, and I'm currently reading an interesting book called The Language Instinct.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly, I think it's amazing that I've come this for in life without getting myself into more trouble. I can be quite cheeky at times.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to move to Germany to learn German. After speaking with a friend of mine, I want to do the same in Scandinavia to learn either Swedish or Norwegian but I'm not sure which quite yet. It should be fun!
