About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just moved to Redwood City after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute in San Diego. I work with cancer research. In my free time, I am trying to explore the Bay Area. You will find me watching all types of sports, checking out breweries, trying new food, going for bike rides, or going for a hike in nature.

ABOUT ME

I am a very social person, I like to meet people, hear their stories, and get to know their culture. I love sports (especially soccer), movies, biking, beer, coffee, and food. I am a biologist with a PhD in Cell Biology and lots of experience in cancer research. I am from Guatemala but lived 5 years in Brazil for my PhD and 5 years in San Diego and now moved in with my wife in Redwood City.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is about balance, some point in the middle is better than the extremes.

Why do it today if you can do it tomorrow? I am an assumed procrastinator

Parkinson's law: "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion"

Try to put yourself in other people's shoes before judging them, it's all about empathy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate in some Couchsurfing events. I had shown the city where I used to live to some travelers and I also did some couchsurfing myself. I have not hosted anybody since I don't live alone and that complicates things a little bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been to CS activities in the places I have lived and while traveling. I've already done couchsurfing in Brazil a few times.
