Overview
About Me
I am a 28 year old American engineer living in States who just quit my job to return to school and study something more interesting (sustainable biomaterials!). I have traveled a bit on some shorter trips the past few years due to limited vacation time from school and work, but I hope to change that in the future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am interested in learning how other people view this world in which we live, and experiencing first hand what it is like to live in another city, country, and culture. While traveling in the past, I have only stayed in hostels and hotels, and found some of my experiences in new places lacking in authenticity due to time and planning issues. I also found myself trying to read too many travel guides and website reviews, wasting my time in some interesting places figuring out what to do. I hope that meeting with some CSers can alleviate some of my travel woes.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Fairly diverse, but I find myself reverting to mellow indie/acoustic/folk (Radiohead, The Strokes, Sufjan Stevens, Nick Drake, Beirut, Tame Impala, Deer Tick ); I also enjoy Jazz, Classical, Funk, and am open to others, though I don't know enough about other genres. I used to play drums, but as I live I apartment with no where for noisy drums since college, I have not played since college.
Movies: Her, Dead Poets Society, the newest Batman movies, the Truman Show, Whiplash
Books: Welcome to the Monkey House, Consider the Lobster, Siddhartha
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Biked over 200 miles (320km) from Seattle, Washington to Portland, Oregon in 1 day. It was flat though! And I won't bike that far ever again.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would be happy to prepare a meal, provide reimbursement for groceries and supplies, etc. I can help fix your bicycle or theoretically discuss your plumbing issues. I hope I can provide an interesting viewpoint of a open-minded traveler from the US.
