About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Gracious host and world traveler!
ABOUT ME
Hei! I am an American girl currently living in the Arctic Circle in Tromsø Norway. I have been living here off and on since 2010. I live with my Portuguese boyfriend, and we each have a 4 year old daughter who lives with us part time.
Tromsø is a lovely place to visit. The summer is beautiful here, and the midnight sun shouldn't be missed! The winters on the other hand are mild, and there are many organized trips available to see the Northern Lights (or you can see a weak version right from town).
My family and I currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment just south of the city center. It could be possible for us to host guests if the timing is right (when our children are with our ex-partners).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted in the past and am happy to offer advice, meet up, and possibly host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have now hosted five women from 2012 through 2014, and one more in the fall of 2019. Each experience was unique and wonderful. Looking forward to trying my first surfing experience!
Interests
I have very eclectic interests. I am a former animal rights activist (many many years ago) and I am still interested in animal welfare and eat about an 80% vegan diet. I like to cook, although my boyfriend does most of the cooking now. I am a big fan of wine, so do not underestimate the importance of bringing cheap wine from your country... wine in Norway is expensive. ;) Dancing is one of my favorite activities, and I do it as often as possible. I can dance salsa, kizomba, brazilian zouk, and west coast swing. I also love to read for pleasure, and do so as often as possible. I also like to paint in oils, and enjoy art museums and galleries. Traveling is high on my list of interests, although I don't get to do it as often as I would like, as traveling from Tromsø can be very expensive. I also like to go out on the town when time permits. My boyfriend is a tour guide in Tromsø, so he can recommend things for visitors to do/see.

Music, Movies, and Books
I will give most anything a try... I like fantasy, horror, romance, thrillers, comedy, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have participated in an authentic Native American sweat lodge ceremony, at the home of my Native American friend in Michigan. It is a spiritual ceremony that takes place in a very small hut, room enough for only about 6-8 people sitting knee to knee. There is a pit dug in the middle where hot stones are placed, and water is poured over these stones to create steam, which is trapped within the hut and causes the people inside to sweat. It is uncomfortable, and a test of endurance while each person takes turns praying out loud. When you emerge, you feel completely cleansed and in touch with your own form of God.
Teach, Learn, Share
Not sure what I can teach you, but it would be awesome if you could teach me to cook something from your country.
