About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have fun!

ABOUT ME

I was working as a computer science engineer but quitted work and home in march 2009 to travel the world with my bike.

PHILOSOPHY

Why do I live my life? Good question. If I find an answer some day, I will tell you.
At least, I want to have some fun in this world, that's maybe a short part of the answer...

Anyway I just like life though I don't like much what human beings make to this world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I had known this project for a bit but didn't subscribe for quite some time because I liked the idea of letting chance be my guide in my trip.
I indeed did not wait for such a website to lodge sometimes people (known and unknown to me) back when I had a home in Paris, when chance of life set travelers or passer-by on my route; or at the opposite to stay at other people's place.

Then I just thought I may try, at least once, and see what I get.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few thanks to this website as a couchsurfer, as I found sometimes people to host me.

For all the rest, I had many such experiences, dozens and dozens, but most unrelated to this website, mostly by hazard of life. Meeting people in a bar, in the street, just speaking with people offering me a bed for the night...

As a host, I hosted a few people when I had a home in Korea, and in Japan.

Interests

- Music, blues and rock in particular (I play myself mostly diatonic harmonica as semi-professional; and, as a beginner, some bass guitar or some ukulele). I play everywhere, in any occasion I find and I did quite a bit of jam sessions and concerts along my way, in particular in Turkey (this thanks to Cagil, wonderful couchsurfer which I met thanks to CS, so it is useful ;-), Japan (a lot in Tokyo, some in Osaka) and Korea (Busan, Seoul, Jeju…).

- Free Software, as a user, but also as a developer. Yes this sounds less like a traveller, I know, but I think also of computer science as some art of mind... And I like this (though I don't like computers the way as many people and don't participate to "social websites").

Music, Movies, and Books

Complicated question... People always want us to "list" the things we like/dislike, as though life was numeral, binary.

I am not fond of the cinema lately, though I still enjoy going with friends if they want to. So I won't list any movie here.

For books, mostly adventures books. Lately I have loved the stories from Hermann Hesse (Knulp in particular, Siddhartha a lot too...). One of my favorite book is definitely "Long John Silver" from Björn Larsson (the famous "original" prequel "Treasure Island" is nice too, but just nice. This recent sequel is litterature genius). "Peter Pan" from Sir Matthew Barry (the book, not any of the derivated movie/comics/etc. except the absolutely wonderful drawn version from Regis Loisel) is very good too.
What else?
Others that I forgot obviously but as I told, this is not a good question. Too many and citing just these few makes me regret because I know some others would so much deserve to be cited too!

Even worse for the music, it is so complicated... I like so many many musicians! But I can say I listen a lot among the classical rock music, among them a lot British... I listen a lot of blues and jazz as well. I listen also regularly to some country musicians, and love Irish songs. And in general may traditional music all over the world are nice and interesting to listen and study.
Don't ask me to list in details all this, I won't like to have to select a name to choose preferably to another. Plus, it would take me hours. ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Again a very strange question. Isn't life already amazing? I could tell you a lot of stories, but not on a website.

If we meet some day, we can discuss stories, but not only mine. Yours too!

Teach, Learn, Share

Mostly music... If you play some instrument and want to share a good jam session, then I am on! If you know a good place in your town where I will be able to play (public jam session so), this is also very good.

Of course I know also other stuff, about computer, a little about motorcycle (but I am not really the kind of people liking speaking about mechanics, motor, bikes, cars... Sorry, I just ride a bike, I don't speak about it), etc. But mostly that's music I prefer to share.
