Hi there! My name is Jelle (surprisingly well pronounced when I’m abroad). For the past three years I’ve been working seasonal jobs and (mainly) solo traveling around the world. Started out in Iceland in 2021 which is where I started using couchsurfing. I met up with a handful of people through this app but never actually couchsurfed before. Now, I am planning to do a grand tour around the world; no planes, just by land and sea. Figured downloading this app again will come in handy.

About two months ago, I’ve booked an impulse trip to Svalbard upcoming December (stumbled upon a ‘cheap’ flight at 03:00 am) (forgot about polar night). Now I’m looking for a host for my short stay in the arctic and some tips about what activities I can do in December :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To try new things. Never done it before but it seems very appealing to me. Get to meet locals and experience their way of living. Also, the svalbard story ;)

Interests

I like to learn new things and step out of my comfort zone. I am really interested in traveling and I am obsessed with mountains. I will attempt to summit Mont Blanc next year so would be very interested in meeting fellow mountaineers. Im eager to see the world as it really is (with my own eyes) instead of believing Western propaganda

Music, Movies, and Books

I can listen to any music genre really, but I am a huge fan of indie, techno and just your typical sing-along songs. I often drive long distances and just love doing car karaoke (can’t help myself)

Moviewise: Fightclub, 7 years in Tibet, Breaking Bad, Dark, History documentaries, Our Planet (huge David Attenborough fan)

Bookwise: I don’t read a lot anymore these days. I bought ‘my life’ from Heinrich Harrer a while ago and will give it a shot after finishing a book about Tibet (manifesting a bucketlist trip there next year🤞🏼

I love learning about History, nature and cultures. Love listening to other people’s travel experiences! Especially about countries I haven’t visited yet. Think the traveller community has a lot of likeminded individuals and keep being amazed by the amount of interesting people I keep meeting. Very grateful for all the (lifelong) friends I made along the road :D
