About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn to be more in touch with my values, to never stop learning. To travel to every country in the world (or at least as many as my age, which I've managed so far!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm happy to meet up if you are in the area!
I want to get more out of my travel- see the side that most tourists miss out on. Swap stories, broaden world experience, have adventures, have fun. I want to build trust around the world so people aren't so scared of strangers!
I value experiences greatly. I'd much prefer to be in someone else's home and learn a place from the inside out, rather than ticking off tourist sites.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed my way through Eastern Europe a while ago, and Europe last year. Such an amazing experience. I feel very strongly about the generosity of my hosts.

Interests

ABOUT ME
I have spent the last decade at university, studying to be a psychologist (as well as completing my PhD- almost there!). In Sydney I live in a student co-operative with 40 other people.
I love cooking! I like to paint and draw and be creative, when I can. I'm from a very open-minded family; my mum is a ceramicist and I grew up in the bush.
I like to keep fit and be outdoors- running, bushwalking, cycling, yoga, a little bit of swimming. I like getting up early in the morning but I also love to go out dancing :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading! A lot.
Music, I have a very broad taste. Rock, pop, something fun to dance to. Jazz when I'm cooking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked 320 km of the Camino De Santiago in Spain in 9 days. In sandshoes. I have never had blisters on the balls of my feet that reached between my toes and up before! We then got on an overnight train, that we had to change 3 times and had to wait in the station between 12am and 4am feeling very vulnerable as we were 2 18 year old girls, only to arrive in San Sebastian the following night to find a festival on and not a single bed under 100 euros. Eventually we pleaded with an albuerge that was for pilgrims only and were convincing enough to get a bed. Dinner tasted very good that night.

I stayed with a host family in Ghana for 3 months whilst I taught english, maths and science. How do I even begin to describe Ghana? We went for a trip to a hippo sanctuary right up away from virtually all western contact near the border of Burkina Faso, and a local took us on a canoe ride as close as was safe to the hippos.

I just about got hypothermia on the back of a Sangthaew in Laos, on a trip that was supposed to take an hour or so and ended up taking over 8. We only had summer clothes and it must have been close to zero. When we arrived I couldn't walk. We found a hostel and the shower water wasn't heated; and it was warmer outside than in. I found some local women around an outdoor fire and huddled with them. They spoke no English, and me no Laos, but they still gave me fish and rice and tea and chatted away. It is amazing how such little things can blow you away. To me that moment was the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll happily swap cooking tips or cook a meal. I'd like to learn anything you have to offer about the area.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very polite, respectful and considerate. I'm also pretty easygoing.
