About Me
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" - Mary Oliver, "The Summer Day"
ABOUT ME
I'm 27 years old, of Singaporean nationality and ethnically of mixed heritage. One of my huge (and expensive) joys in life is travelling. I really love getting to learn about different peoples and cultures. I see so many things I never knew about before. It's the only time feeling like an idiot is wonderful, hahaha.
I enjoy a broad range of interests - music, sports, fashion, dance, literature, languages, and a good conversation any day. I'm not particularly good at any of them, but they're all good fun. I can do English and conversational Mandarin, I've tried basic French and I'm into learning Korean right now so no prizes for guessing where my next travel destination will be ^^
Hearing about people and their stories fascinates me. I'm really not a good drinking buddy, but there's always tea, coffee... and karaoke!! Karaoke anytime hahaha as long as it's not crazy expensive~ I think that aircon is the best invention in the world, baking is a form of therapy, advanced math is a language that I will never understand, and life is to be enjoyed and savoured in all its myriad flavours.
PHILOSOPHY
Right now, life is about being bold enough to dream dreams. And then taking the baby steps to reach those dreams. One of Philip Larkin's poems starts with "If hands could free you, heart, where would you fly?" That's something I think about a lot now. I want to live passionately, wherever I happen to be.
I also love Jesus. He keeps me grounded, reminds me to be sincere, to be honest, and to love the people around me. People are important to me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I found out about CouchSurfing 4 years ago, and I *finally* got to try it during my university student exchange in 2010. I was in Belgium and we stayed with Alan when we went to Bordeaux. It was totally awesome; he was such a great host. I still think CS is a great community and it's a pity I can't host anyone right now because my place back home is really small, with my family here and all.
Interests
I like reading, so I have a to-read list of books that is extending faster than I can strike off titles (:
I like things that are functional and look pretty at the same time. Good design (of anything), and better still good design + good experience. It could be fashion, art, interiors, stationery, gadgets... anything really. If it works and looks great, it interests me.
Music, dance, performance arts. Please recommend! Regardless of what I'm currently doing, or where I am, or which stage of life I'm in, I find that I always come back to music, dance, and the arts. It's like my soul food.
